Track types

Add tracks from Track ▸ Add or the timeline context menu:

• Audio — records and plays audio clips.
• MIDI — holds MIDI clips that drive a plugin instrument.
• Instrument — a MIDI track with a hosted instrument on its input.
• Bus — sums signal from other tracks.
• Group — groups tracks for shared control.
• Return — a destination for sends (effects returns).
• Master — the final output stage.

Each track header carries Mute, Solo, and Arm controls, a color, and a height preset (Small / Normal / Large / Huge).

Recording

1. Arm the target track(s).
2. Choose the input in the track inspector.
3. Position the playhead and press Record in the transport.
4. Press Stop to end the take.

Recording writes audio to disk while capturing; the resulting clip appears on the track lane.

Working with clips

Clips are the audio or MIDI segments on a track lane. Common operations:

• Move — drag along the lane.
• Resize / trim — drag a clip edge.
• Select — click, or rubber-band multiple.
• Copy / Cut / Paste — standard edit shortcuts.
• Delete — remove the selected clip(s).

Edit shortcuts (Ctrl/Cmd+A/C/V/X, Delete) work in the timeline but do not fire while you are typing in a text field.

Audio clips

Audio clips show a waveform and support gain and time-stretch. Fades and clip gain are edited from the clip or inspector.

MIDI clips and the piano roll

Double-click a MIDI clip to open the piano roll in the bottom Editor tab. There you can:

• Draw, move, resize, and delete notes.
• Adjust velocity.
• Edit against the same grid and snap settings as the arrangement.

The piano keyboard and note grid share one coordinate system so notes stay aligned with the ruler at any zoom.

MIDI editing is available now. Some engine-playback refinements for edited MIDI are ongoing — check the release notes for the current state.

Selection and snapping

Selection and snapping follow the arrangement grid. Snap keeps edits aligned to bars/beats; disable it for free placement.
