Automation & Export

Automation lanes, plugin delay compensation, and rendering audio.

Automation & Export

Automation

Automation records parameter changes over time — volume, pan, sends, and plugin parameters.

Automation lanes

Each track can show automation lanes beneath its clip lane. A lane draws the automation curve for one target parameter:

  • Add points — click on the lane.
  • Move points — drag.
  • Delete points — select and remove.
  • Select all points — within the automation editor context.

Automation lanes live in track/project state and stay aligned with the timeline grid at any zoom or scroll position.

Automation modes

Switch a track's automation mode (read/write behavior) and cycle its active target from the track controls. Automation for plugin parameters travels the full path from the lane through the engine to the target plugin instance — routed to that specific insert, never broadcast to all plugins.

Plugin delay compensation (PDC)

Plugins that add latency are compensated automatically so tracks stay in time. Bridged plugin inserts contribute their reported latency (plus any bridge handoff latency) to PDC, keeping parallel and summed signals phase-correct.

Transport context

Hosted plugins receive real transport information — sample rate, block size, play/stop state, project position, tempo, and time signature — from the actual engine timeline, not a fixed stub. Tempo-synced plugins follow your project.

Exporting audio

Open File ▸ Export Arrangement to render your project to audio.

Export types

  • Master mixdown — the full stereo output.
  • Stems — grouped submixes.
  • Multitrack — individual tracks.

How rendering works

Export renders offline. Native plugin inserts are rendered in process and their saved state is restored for the offline pass, so the exported audio matches what you hear. A tail (default 5 seconds) is included so reverbs and delays ring out fully.

Steps

  1. File ▸ Export Arrangement.
  2. Choose the export type (master / stems / multitrack).
  3. Set format, range, and tail.
  4. Render. When finished, you can reveal the output folder.

Tips

  • Freeze reverb/delay tails by leaving enough tail time.
  • Use stems/multitrack when handing off to another engineer or DAW.
